Blue Herons
The sky is blue this morning with scattered clouds and an 8 mile per hour breeze. September through November is the best weather on the Delta, the best-kept secret, the river now belongs to the critters and locals. Soon the Herons will face competition for the best fishing spots.

Life is on a Slower Pace after Labor Day.
I refer to these as “Bay-Cones” for lack of knowing the real name of these seed pods. They grow on the Bay Trees, when the first of them turn brown and begin to drop the leaves won’t be far behind.
